The [BBC] version aired 12 episodes and are viewed as classic British comedy, starring [Ricky Gervais] and [Martin Freeman]. An American network, [NBC], duplicated the show, and is currently running over 2 seasons. The American version (with [Steve Carrell]) had a slow start but picked up speed and came into it's own in season 2. People always say the British version is better because they're snobby and it seems the right thing to say.
